Summertime Maintenance Tips
A stitch in time saves nine. It might be an overused proverb, but there’s a reason why it’s a common turn of phrase repeated by many in the GTA. It’s because it’s true, especially when you apply its lesson to the smooth operation of your household. Here in our offices, we’re huge proponents of preventative measures, and we encourage our clients to include regular inspections in their routines, so they can catch minor problems and correct them before they evolve into a costly breakdown.
Of course, sometimes, small issues get overlooked and a malfunction is inevitable. Sometimes routine maintenance only delays necessary repairs. In that case, our team of appliance repair technicians are ready to take on your damaged machine. Fully qualified to repair the top brand names, our technicians will make short work of your faulty fridge, heater, air conditioner, and more. As the top Toronto repair technicians, we’ve made it our job to know the ins and outs of every appliance.
But until that day comes, adopting our simple yet effective maintenance tips into your chore routine can help you stave off breakdowns and improve the efficiency of your machine. And the best thing about it all is that you don’t have to invest a lot of time or money in order to ensure your appliances are running at their best. Besides keeping them clean, an inspection once a season is all you need to maintain your appliance. Now that the summer has officially arrived here in the GTA, there’s no better time than to resume (or start) your preventative checks. If this is relatively new to you, then keep reading our advice for inspecting your fridge and air conditioner.
Air Conditioner
In the GTA, where the temperatures keep cool until they skyrocket in July and August, the air conditioner doesn’t get to see much action for most of the year. But in the summer, it gets put into overdrive. To make sure it’s up to the job, set aside an hour or two on a weekend and inspect the outside. Ensure there are no sticks or other debris settled around the base of the machine. While doing that, check to make sure the lines running from the machine to your home are intact. After several months spent dormant, the A/C’s condenser coils could also do with a good cleaning. If you feel comfortable removing the side and top panels of your machine, you can easily scrub away collected dirt from these coils using a soft brush. If you’d you rather not dismantle your A/C, one of our air conditioner repair technicians are willing to help.
Fridge & Freezer
The summer is synonymous with backyard barbeques and trips up to the cottage. You can’t have either of those without properly stocking up on food and drinks for everyone invited. As a result, your fridge and freezer are working overtime to accommodate the extra stuff you’ve bought in preparation. With the best cuts of meat and a few cases of beer filling your fridge, it’s under more strain than usual, but well-timed maintenance can make sure your appliances are up to the task. Just like your air conditioner, you’ll want to clean the fridge’s and freezer’s condenser coils. You can usually find these underneath or behind the unit, and you can use a soft brush or vacuum to clean them. Removing dust and other debris from these coils will ensure the machines regulate their temperature properly to ensure a normal electricity bill.
Attending to your fridge, freezer, and air conditioner won’t take you any longer than an afternoon, but you’ll benefit from the effects of your handiwork for months to come. Should you notice something strange with these appliances during your inspections, don’t hesitate to give us a call. We can have an expert repair technician at your house at any time to make a professional inspection of their own. Together, we’ll make sure your appliances run well through the summer.
