Taking a Look at the Best Refrigerator Brands
Most people in the GTA don’t consider innovation a cornerstone of the appliance industry, but it’s true. The top manufacturers are at the forefront of technology. Each year, they integrate the latest energy saving methods and just-plain-fun features into their new designs. Unfortunately, with innovation comes experimentation, and sometimes things don’t always work out in consumers’ favour. New gadgetry is liable to come with its fair share of glitches, causing frequent breakdowns and mounting frustration.
You shouldn’t have to be calling our technicians for help every week or every month, which is why we’ve decided to put together a list of the brands you can trust. For every manufacturer that missteps as they embrace the new, there’s another that manages to integrate the latest tech into reliable and serviceable machines. Keep reading to learn about the best brands that require the least amount of maintenance.
Whirlpool
It should come as no surprise that Whirlpool makes it to the top of our list. This particular manufacturer has been in business since the early 20th century, and it’s celebrating its 105th anniversary this year. The last century has been good to the multinational manufacturer of home appliances. From its origins with a motor-driven wringer washer to the high-tech line of appliances they have today, Whirlpool operates some of the biggest brands in the world, including Maytag and KitchenAid. They consistently score as the most reliable kitchen appliances as determined by Consumer Reports. Its refrigerators (including those with tricky icemakers) and dishwasher score particularly high marks.
Bosch
As Europe’s largest appliance manufacturer, Bosch creates some of the most reliable refrigerator models in the world. The German company consistently scores as a safe bet that also happens to be affordable for most homeowners in Toronto and the GTA. It’s also a relatively dependable choice for most other kitchen appliances, particularly that of their line of dishwashers.
Kenmore
Their addition to our list may be considered cheating, as the production of their appliances is outsourced to other manufactures, including Whirlpool and Bosch. Nevertheless, the Kenmore brand is responsible for some of Consumer Report’s most recommended refrigerators, especially for those bottom- and top-freezer models.
On average, these brands are much less likely to experience frequent breakdowns — which means you can save a few bucks on repairs and maintenance. While you can’t go wrong with Whirlpool, Bosch, and Kenmore, there are brands that are much more error-prone and you’d do well to avoid them. Manufacturers like LG, GE, Haier, Electrolux, and Amana perform poorly when rated on their reliability. As a result, our refrigerator repair technicians answer more service calls for these models.
Of course, no machine — no matter how innovative or well-made — will require basic maintenance and good care. At least with this handy guide you’ll have to make a phone call to our office less often; however, with our 24/7 repair guarantee, you know we’re available to take your call whenever you need expert and affordable repairs. Whether you have the newest Whirlpool model or an old GE, our fridge repair technicians are ready and able to put them on the mend.
